A truly moving tale,
Let me start off by saying to everyone who has an ex-boyfriend, this should be on your required conception list!
Julie is an easily relatable character. We’ve all been there, the awkwardness of running into an ex-boyfriend, tiresome to sound like you’re perfectly pleased and life couldn’t be better, the embarrassing moments that are at their absolute best at the absolute most terrible time. It’s simple to follow Julie through her awkwardness and embarrassment.
Jennifer writes in such a way that the conception flows as naturally as a conversation with an ancient friend. The comfort of her characters brings to mind many Beverly Cleary novels from my own childhood. Her writing is honest and direct, there’s very small left to the imagination which results in much hilarity.
It was a quick read for me as I had distress putting it down and I’m sure you’ll be the same.
